We're incredibly proud to share that the Crescent Nest Sustainable Sonic Toothbrush has been awarded Silver in Best Personal Care at the Clean + Conscious Awards 2026.
For a young New Zealand brand built around one simple belief, that high-performance oral care and planet care can share the same handle, this recognition feels particularly special.
The Clean + Conscious Awards celebrate products across Australia and New Zealand that are created with consideration for people and planet. Our Sustainable Sonic Toothbrush was independently reviewed by members of the Awards' Expert Panel, with Crescent Nest recognised for its materials, ethical practices, sustainability and social impact.
And, importantly to us, the experts also put the toothbrush through its paces as an everyday product.
Because sustainability only works when the product itself works beautifully.
An Award-Winning Sustainable Sonic Toothbrush That Doesn't Ask You to Compromise
When we started Crescent Nest, we saw a frustrating gap in oral care.
Traditional plastic toothbrushes are replaced again and again. Electric toothbrushes can offer excellent cleaning performance, but most still rely heavily on plastic replacement heads and a largely linear "buy, use, dispose" model.
At the other end of the spectrum, many lower-waste alternatives ask people to compromise on performance, convenience or the experience of using the product.
We wanted another option.
The Crescent Nest Sustainable Sonic Toothbrush was designed to bring together the things we believe shouldn't have to compete: effective cleaning, gentle everyday care, thoughtful design and lower waste.
It delivers up to 40,000 micro-vibrations per minute, with five brushing modes, a built-in two-minute timer and quadrant pacer, and up to 60 days of battery life between charges.
But instead of continually replacing large amounts of plastic, the durable handle stays with you while the brush head is replaced.
Each replacement head uses FSC-certified bamboo with soft, plant-based bristles made from castor oil-derived PA1010.
The result is an oral care system estimated to create around 85% less plastic waste than conventional disposable toothbrushes.

Thoughtful Materials
The Awards recognised our use of FSC-certified bamboo replacement heads and castor oil-derived bristles, alongside a durable handle designed for longer-term use.
FSC certification matters to us because it provides traceability and supports more responsibly managed forestry rather than simply using "bamboo" as a sustainability claim.
Ethical Practices
Crescent Nest is a Certified B Corporation, meaning our social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency have been independently assessed.
The Awards also highlighted our approach to responsible sourcing and supplier relationships.
Our manufacturing partners are carefully selected and audited through standards including amfori BSCI, with expectations covering safe working conditions, ethical labour, environmental compliance and transparent record keeping.

Sustainability Built Into the System
This is perhaps the part of the recognition that means the most to us.
Crescent Nest wasn't designed as a conventional toothbrush with an "eco" material added afterwards.
We started with the system.

- Reduce unnecessary materials from the beginning
Our Circular Care approach encourages customers to return old or faulty handles so they can be assessed for repair, refurbishment or responsible recycling where possible.
Packaging is designed to be minimal, functional and plastic free.
And for every Sustainable Sonic Toothbrush purchased, we support the planting of a tree through our partnership with One Tree Planted.
What the Expert Reviewers Said
Receiving an award is wonderful. Hearing what independent reviewers noticed after actually living with the product was even more valuable.
Expert reviewer Samantha Gilmore highlighted the minimal packaging, premium bamboo design and the toothbrush's quiet, lightweight feel. She found the bristles soft and gentle while still leaving her teeth feeling exceptionally clean.
What particularly resonated with us was her recognition that Crescent Nest is trying to make sustainable everyday decisions feel simple and achievable, rather than overwhelming.

Crescent Nest is still a young brand.
We don't have decades of history or the resources of multinational oral care companies.
